Irish Bodycare/Skincare is a family-run company based at the Campus Innovation Centre of the Carlow Institute of Technology in Ireland.
Since 1990 the company has been researching into UVA and UVB sun protection products, as well as dry scalp and skin conditions.
We produce a small number of our own products, as well as licensing further innovations to other cosmetic manufacturers.
Irish Bodycare/Skincare is involved in a number of research programmes at the Carlow Institute of Technology and other Institutes in Ireland, which have given the
company national and international recognition.
Because of the lack of sun in the British Isles and our usually pale skin type, many people do not build up a natural protection before going on holiday
abroad, making them burn easily.
In 1992 Irish Skincare undertook a research programme to resolve this problem. The goal was to produce an easily applied, highly durable, non-staining
waterproof sun filter with daytime insect repellent and which could be applied to the skin just once a day.
Since the launch of Parasol 20+ in 1993 - and the subsequent introduction of our other Parasol skin and hair protection products - we have continued our
research into long-lasting facial protection.
This result was the launch of Prolong Facial Moisturiser, with its UVA and UVB protection, together with its own anti-free radical herbal ingredients
Our research into dry scalp and skin conditions, which has already resulted in the Procam Dermacare range for controlling conditions such as eczema and
psoriasis, is continuing.
Because of growing interest in Irish Skincare's products in the United Kingdom a mail order service was set up in 2000 and is based in Belfast.
